Beside besides... and b-sides or backsides, BESIDES is the non existing plural of being next to. Beside the inherent drama in the confrontation between very soft playing heavily amplified and very loud playing on instruments heavily damped with practice mutes, the amplification also makes the instruments able to appear in two different spatial contexts - in different besides.
